SPRINGTOWN - The Graham Steers and Springtown Porcupines both posted unblemished 4-0 records to earn spots in the 2013 Texas State 7 on 7 Tournament, July 11-12 in Round Rock. Host Springtown used a high scoring offense that averaged nearly 46 points per game to advance. Sophomore to be QB Landry Turner was outstanding in leading a highly efficient POJO offensive attack. In the 52-46 semi-final win over Glen Rose, Springtown scored on all but one possession.
Graham's defense was the story as they allowed just over 15 points per game in their four wins. The Steers got down early 12-0 to Stephenville in the semi-finals, but rallied to outscore the Yellow Jackets 32-8 in the final 30 minutes of the game to roll to a 32-20 win.
The game of the way was in Pool B action as heading into the final round of pool play Boyd and Glen Rose both held 2-0 records. The two squads went at it in a triple overtime duel, with Glen Rose outlasting the Yellow Jackets 32-26.
