Tidehaven hires Brent Mascheck

Brent Mascheck played on Shiner's 1986 Class 2A state championship football team and he remembers some of the battles the Comanches had with Tidehaven.

"They had some unbelievable teams," Mascheck said. "We want to get back to that level."

Mascheck will attempt to bring winning back to Tidehaven after being named athletic director and head football coach by a unanimous vote of the board of trustees at a special called meeting on Wednesday night.

Mascheck was the athletic director and head football coach at Columbus for seven seasons before resigning in December.

He had an overall record of 35-39 that included three playoff appearances.

He was previously was the defensive coordinator at Richmond Foster and an assistant at Rosenberg Terry.

Mascheck will replace Jim Sides, who resigned after three seasons to become the Tidehaven High School principal.
